I met Melinda when I was walking around my old neighborhood of Attleboro, MA photographing the area. I stepped into a Guatemalan bakery and saw a woman in the back making tortillas through a small crack in the wall. The owner noticed that my attention was on Melinda and decided to introduce me to her. After some conversation, I found out Melinda Augusto left Guatemala a year ago to reunite with her family. While she was flipping tortillas she had a beautiful big smile on her face talking about Guatemala and the life she misses. However, she says life is better now that she can help her family while feeling safer.
